To the amazement of everyone, the trip from SC to CA only took 2 days. Considering the fact that this was a solo cross-country drive, it didn’t take long at all. The Jetta TDI performed remarkably well. There was always plenty of torque for passing at highway speeds without having to downshift from 6th gear. Combine the power with efficiency, and what you have is a sleepy little car that is great fun, roomy, and can sip enough fuel to get you and some friends from coast to coast for less than $150 in fuel.
